Keswick Festival 10km and 3km - The Lake District
Website: www.209events.com
Salomon are pleased to be part of the Keswick Mountain Festival for the second time with this very scenic 10km Trail Run around Cat Bells and along the lakeside that gained rave reviews on the Runner's World website.
The event will be based out of the Newlands Adventure centre approx 3 miles from Keswick and will take a route along the side of Cat Bells before going over the ridge and dropping down to the Lakeside path. The views across the lake are breathtaking and well worth the effort of the climb.
The event is intended to be a great introduction to trail running for those who have until now run mostly on the roads, while at the same time satisfying regurlar trail runners or fell runners. The run isn't a full-on fell race and all the running is on well marked trails. The climb over the ridge at Cat Bells is demanding and the descent to the lake takes some care but you do not need to have masses of off-road experience to manage it.

10km Forest Trail, Sherwood Pines, Nr Mansfield, E Midlands
Website - www.209events.com/
Sherwood Pines was a new venue for the Forest Trail series last year and what a superb forest it is to run in too - even though we were hit by a freak heavy rain storm just as the runners set off!
Starting an finishing close to the visitors centre, the course will take in some of the marked trails in this large country park and some very pleasant single track through beach, birch and oak glades.
Thurs 15th July 2010
10km Forest Trail, Delemare Cheshire
Website - www.209events.com/
Always the most popular of the salomon Forest trails with 550 runners and the runners enjoyed perhaps the hardest of the routes, with a major climb for a mile soon after the start - although this was followed by flatter trails through the pine forest and an excellent single track section before returning to the finish.
With numbers likely to increase again we will re-configure the start loop to cut out congestion in the first 2kms - but never fear, we will be keeping in 'The Hill'.
7th-15th August 2010
The Trophee Des Montagnes - French Alps
Website www.tropdesmon.org/
We are awaiting the website for the 2010 event to be published but the dates have been confirmed as 7-15th of August. The event takes place in the French Alps with 12 races over the period of 9 days. The event is a series of races held at 4 different villages in the high Alps, from each location you will run 4 races, sometimes 2 a day and some will be in the dark, bring a headtorch. There are mass starts of up to 100 runners and dogs, handicap chases and relays to be run. You will find yourself running up and down the pistes of the Alps without skis or snow, crossing streams, races cover 3 to 8kms and cover some serious up and down hills. In 2008 one race climbed the height of Snowdon and finished at a cable car station, where you then returned to the start with your dog in the cable car.
These links will take you to the start points of the 2008 and 2009 events.
